Detailed Selection Procedure & SSB Interview Breakdown
- Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted discipline-wise based on cumulative engineering percentage cut-off decided by DG Recruiting.
- Stage 1 (Day 1 of SSB): Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test (Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning) and Picture Perception & Description Test (PPDT). Candidates who qualify Stage 1 are retained for Stage 2; others are screened out on Day 1.
- Stage 2 (Days 2 to 5 of SSB):
- Psychological Tests: Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), and Self Description Test (SD).
- Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks: Group Discussion (GD), Group Planning Exercise (GPE), Progressive Group Task (PGT), Half Group Task (HGT), Individual Obstacles (IO), Command Task (CT), Snake Race (GOR), and Final Group Task (FGT).
- Personal Interview: Comprehensive interview by the Interviewing Officer (IO) assessing leadership qualities, general awareness, technical acumen, and defense knowledge.
- Conference: Final board evaluation by all assessing officers on Day 5.
- Medical Examination: 4 to 5 days comprehensive medical tests at Military Hospitals (SMB). Candidates declared unfit can apply for Appeal Medical Board (AMB).
- Merit List: Purely based on marks secured in SSB Interview (subject to medical fitness and availability of vacancies in respective stream).
