The recruitment is conducted centrally through the single-window online portal rrbapply.gov.in. Zonal vacancies are distributed among Central, Eastern, Northern, Southern, Western, and other railway zones.

Eligibility Criteria & Age Limit

1. Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Bachelor Degree from any recognized university or institution. Final year students awaiting results are not eligible to apply. Degree marks must meet the prescribed criteria before the closing date.

2. Age Limit (As on 01.01.2027)

The minimum age requirement is 20 years. The maximum age limit is 30 years for unreserved candidates. Standard age relaxations apply for reserved community categories:

• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years upper age relaxation.
• SC / ST Candidates: 5 Years upper age relaxation.
• Ex-Servicemen: As per Central Government railway service rules.
• PwBD Candidates: Subject to medical category admissibility.

3. Medical Fitness Standard

Candidates must strictly satisfy the A-2 Medical Fitness Standard. Distant vision must be 6/9, 6/9 without glasses (no fogging test). Near vision must be Sn: 0.6, 0.6 without glasses. Candidates must pass tests for color vision, binocular vision, field of vision, and night vision.

Selection Process & Examination Stages

The selection process for Station Master comprises four sequential stages. Candidates must qualify each stage to advance further in the merit ranking:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): Objective screening test containing General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence.
2. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Psycho-aptitude evaluation specifically designed for Station Master posts. Candidates must score at least 42 marks in each test battery.
3. Document Verification (DV): Verification of original educational, caste, and identity certificates.
4. Medical Examination: Strict medical examination conducted at designated railway hospitals.

Application Fee Structure & Refund Policy

The application fee must be remitted online using Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI. Indian Railways provides a partial fee refund to applicants who appear in the CBT stage:

• General, OBC, EWS Male Candidates: Fee is ₹500/-. An amount of ₹400/- will be refunded after appearing in the CBT exam.
• SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Female, Transgender, Minorities, and EBC Candidates: Fee is ₹250/-. The entire amount of ₹250/- will be refunded upon appearing in the exam.
