Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have passed Class 10 or Matriculation under the 10+2 system with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board.
- Must possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade from an institution affiliated with NCVT or SCVT.
- Both Class 10 and ITI examinations must have been passed by 21 August 2026.
Special Trade Requirements
- Laboratory Technician (Pathology): Passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- Laboratory Technician: At least 50% marks in both Class 10 and Class 12.
- Secretarial Assistant and Stenographer: NCVT or SCVT-approved National Trade Certificate.
- Computer Operator and Programming Assistant: Prescribed Centre of Excellence training in IT sector and approved National Trade Certificate.

- General candidates: 15 to 24 years (as on 15 September 2026)
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years age relaxation

Although there is no entrance examination, candidates should revise the following areas for their apprenticeship training and future trade-related assessments:

Selection Process
Selection will be based entirely on merit. A merit list will be prepared separately for each unit, trade and community using Class 10 marks (all subjects, not best of five). There will be no written test or interview. Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification and must submit a Medical Fitness Certificate.
Training Period and Stipend
- Selected candidates will undergo apprenticeship training according to the applicable provisions of the Apprentices Act and current Railway Board rules.
- The stipend will be paid at the rate prescribed by the Railway Board.
- No hostel accommodation will be provided. Apprentices must arrange their own accommodation and other personal expenses.
Documents Required for Verification
- Class 10 mark sheet and pass certificate.
- Date of birth certificate, if required.
- Consolidated ITI mark sheet for all semesters and NCVT/SCVT Certificate.
- Caste/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen certificates if applicable (OBC Non-Creamy Layer valid for 2026-27).
- Aadhaar Card or Aadhaar Enrolment ID.
- Recent colour photograph and scanned signature.
Important Instructions
- Ensure that the name, father’s name and date of birth match the Class 10 certificate.
- Include marks from all subjects while calculating the percentage. Do not use the best-five method.
- Select the Division or Workshop carefully because the choice is final.
- Do not submit multiple applications for the same trade.
- Do not assume that apprenticeship training guarantees a permanent railway appointment.
